Just recently I was talking to a coworker of mine.
We were talking about some of our goals for the near future, and as he was speaking to me I couldn’t help but acknowledge the true value of what he was saying. I came to a realization, and told him this year is pivotal for a lot of people. I call them the dream chasers and visionaries.
For those of us who see where we want to go in life, this year has been a time for pursuing endeavors and making new mistakes. This year a lot of people have been heading in the right direction for the lives they’d like to lead. While I’ve been working hard to steer myself in the right direction too, I met someone this year who has inspired me beyond capacity.
His name is Zachary Beck, but is known by most as the artist Futuristic. I first saw this man only a few months ago. He was on stage at Empire in VA; hopping all around, rapping, and spraying water on everyone in the crowd. I wasn’t too impressed at first. Some pop up on the scene rapper throwing water and acting a fool? No I’ll pass; but the more I listened and watched, the more I realized this dude really has a style of his own.
He’s passionate about what he does, he knows how to interact with a crowd, and most importantly, his music has a message. Futuristic has suffered from his own trauma. He shares his story in one of his most recent videos, “Music Saved My Life.”
He talks about his struggles with suicidal thoughts and depression. These happen to be the same issues I’ve dealt with, and process with children on a daily basis who are also experiencing the same struggles. It’s apparent Futuristic has mastered his practice of coping skills. In fact he’s made a career out of it, and his movement W.T.F ( we’re the future) continues to speak to the masses. I know most of you have never heard of him, but he’s an artist who’s real. He’s true to himself and his passion for life. With music so contagious, you can’t help but become a fan.
