For longer than I’d like to remember
I’ve struggled with the cause and effects of Depression. It’s caused me to become an emotional eater; affecting my body in numerous terrible ways. Emotional Intelligence has shown me how to identify where my feelings come from, and has helped me seek different options when trying to resolve them. This practice forces me to be more self-aware and gives me a huge self-esteem boost. Eating for comfort instead of fuel makes my depression worse, and is the gateway behavior that condones more bad habits. I’ve been working hard to correct this behavior by exercising more, meditating, and eating when I need to instead of when I want to.
I don’t know if it was fate or the pure grace of God, but somehow on Instagram last month I stumbled upon a food blogger named Lucy. Come to find out; not only is she a fellow WordPress blogger, she struggles with anxiety, and makes incredible recipes to help stabilize her moods. Did I hit the jackpot or what? Being a person born under the zodiac Cancer; plus battling with depression on the daily makes moodiness inevitable. Lucky for me, Ms. Lucy agreed to let me follow her blog this month. Now I have new recipes to help me with my mood swings too. Lucy’s blog does more than just provide recipes. It’s because of her I learned avocados are a super food for good moods. Their high content of monounsaturated fat makes an avocado one of the best ingredients to relieve stress.
Check out Lucy’s incredible Mexican Turkey Salad with avocado, beans, and chipotle dressing. You can get the full recipe on her blog at bakingyoubetter.com.
Aside from good food, I mentioned before about how exercise puts me in a good mood. I’m learning how to lift with better form and I love cardio! That may sound funny, but a dope playlist and a couple miles on the elliptical put my self-confidence on 10. My people at Love Fitness Apparel help me out too. I know I’m not the only woman feeling self-conscious while trying to work on her fitness. Their leggings come high up enough on my back; they help round out my butt. The extra handles I’ve put on my back from emotionally overeating makes my butt look flat. I absolutely hate that! So shout out to Love Fitness for helping me get back to loving my body, and looking cute while doing it.
They just launched their new Island Vibes collection yesterday too, and I can’t decide what to get. I’m thinking about the Night Rain pants. They look extra cute and comfy. What do you guys think? If you want to work out confidently in some dope gear from Hawaii too, just put in my promo code BB429 for 10% off site wide.
I appreciate you taking the time to read about me working to change my mind, heal my heart and change my life. Don’t hesitate to share this with anyone who you think could benefit from doing the same.
Excuse me while I indulge in my salad.
